Ely Shotokan Karate Club (Ely SKC) is a friendly, outgoing and supportive group, run by instructors

Sensei Ian Cheale (Nidan/2nd Dan), Sensei Sarah McCambridge (Sandan/3rd Dan), and Sensei Shane Smith (Shodan/1st Dan).

Sensei Ian has been training and studying Shotokan Karate for over 35 years. After a break from training for family and career reasons, he restarted in 2008 and graded to Shodan in 2010 under ESKA, and to Nidan in 2014 under SKAI England.

Sensei Sarah has been training since the age of 12. She graded to Shodan in 1991, Nidan in 1995 and Sandan in 1999, all under the KUGB. Sensei Sarah joined Ely SKC in the Spring of 2022.

Sensei Shane has been training for 13 years, and graded to Shodan in 2019 under SKAI England.

With students aged from 5 to 55, ESKC has built an excellent reputation for the quality of the training available, both for children and adults. This is illustrated by the fact that we have members who travel from as far as Isleham, Chatteris, Longstanton, Needingworth and Huntingdon, to train at our dojo.
